St. Mary’s Seminary, Houston, TX

My name is Jude Ekenedilichukwu Ezuma and I am the fifth child in a family of seven – 5 brothers and 1 sister. I was born in Lagos , Nigeria . As a cradle Catholic, my childhood memories are filled with images of receiving my First Holy Communion, desiring to and actually becoming an Altar Server, attending Catechism Classes on weekends, daily family prayers, mass attendance, recitation of the Rosary, and of course playing soccer, amongst others. My journey to the seminary has humble beginnings especially through volunteering in my home parish (in Nigeria ) in catechetical instructions. Today, as I look back at the adventure of this journey, at how it has unfolded through Philosophical Studies at the National Missionary Seminary of St Paul in Nothern Nigeria and some theological studies/Formation at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington DC., and how it has brought me to St Mary’s Seminary in Houston, with foundational Formation Program with the Josephites, I am amazed at the Providence of God. I am very happy and feel blessed to be a Seminarian in discernment for the priesthood in the archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. One of my favorite Scripture passages is Jeremiah 29:11; I love it because it captures my basic spirituality – trust in God’s providence and will at all times. My hobbies include playing soccer, reading/studying, travelling, movies, and music.
